Ambassador Ahn served as Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to the United States (2013-17), Deputy Minister of Trade, Ambassador to the European Union and Belgium, and First Vice Foreign Minister.

Ambassador Ahn also served as Chair and Professor of North Korean Studies at the Kyung-Nam University.

Ambassador Ahn studied at the Seoul National University (BA), the Georgetown University (MS), Korea National Open University (LLB) and the Georgetown Law School (LLM). He received Ph.D. in political science from the Kyung-Nam University
